In 2006, one year after Wild World, "劇場版 どうぶつの森" (The Movie: AC) was released in theaters. This movie would follow its own plot, while borrowing elements from the game series, such as characters and certain locations. It would also receive a high amount of merchandise, ranging from plushies, to stationery, to even kitchenware.
