.hack is a multimedia franchise that began in the early 2000's, it was one of the first series to pioneer the idea of a MMO death game genre of anime and games, the story played out across multiple volumes of games, anime, and manga. In 2002, Bandai would release a gachapon set with figures of some of the main characters in the game to promote the first game in the series "INFECTION".
